Everyone knows their car works
because of a complex series of mechanical parts that all work together,
the same is true about a computer. But do you know why? Or more
specifically what is underneath the hood? Computers can be very
complicated. You might know what a video card is, ram or a hard drive
but what about all the other components that make them work? Have you
ever thought about what kind of capacitors were used in the
manufacturing process? How thick the PCB is? What about the quality of
the transistors and MOSFETs? These are all questions you should be
asking yourself if you are building a PC.
Here at PC Sales & Service we take pride in our system builds. We ask
the questions so you don't have to. Taking the guess work out of
building a PC is one thing but our support is the best thing we have to
offer. We build our computers to be reliable, fast and long lasting.
Let's start with a few components and explain why we use them.
Motherboard: Our expertise on both enthusiast and mainstream components
gave us the insight on what our customers need. Motherboards are a
necessary component and often overlooked if you consider only the
features. Giga-byte is our brand of choice because their features are
surpassed by all the quality components they use. From ferrite core
chokes to Lower RDS(on) MOSFETs and Japanese solid state capacitors,
these motherboards are built with the investor in mind. Not only will
they last longer, they will be reliable and perform better. Giga-byte
offers an industry leading warranty with their product that surpasses
other manufacturers.
Power Supply: One of the most replaced components in a computer is a
power supply. Power supplies are designed in an enclosed box where it is
easy to conceal the internal parts and its quality. Many system builders
are concerned with the wattage of a power supply and neglect the amount
of amperage per rail of power. Here we use Corsair power supplies, known
for their quality and long warranties. These units are tougher and more
resistant to every day power fluctuations.
Memory: Everyone is concerned with quantity when it comes to memory
because it is what programs require. Although quantity is important, it
isn't the most important aspect of quality memory. Reliability of memory
guaranttees that the information will be accurate going in and comming
out. There is nothing more disasterous than files on your drive
becomming corrupted from bad memory or your system blue screening
because all operations were halted to prevent data loss. Since all
memory chips have a lifetime warranty We stick with leading brands such
as Corsair and Crucial for their outstanding customer support. Their
quality and reliability makes systems faster by offering better
performance with lower timings and reliability by using quality memory
chips.
Hard Drive: Most people are familiar with the ever growing number of
gigabytes or terrabytes a hard drive has to offer. Although requirements
are constantly increasing with videos, pictures and music there are
other factors that come into play such as how fast is your hard drive?
When accessing files as large as 2 gigabytes, speed becomes a concern.
RPMs or revolutions per minutes of a disk platter is important when
considering speed, but did you know that hard drives use a certain
amount of megabytes for cache to predict or enable faster file
transfers? This is why we choose Western Digital. Their hard drives are
reliable and backed with 3 to 5 year warrantees. With large amounts of
important information, who can afford to loose irreplacable pictures,
videos or documents?
Chasis: Computer cases are important. Although designs can look amazing,
if their structure is weak it can work against you. Having a computer
with intermittent problems is often related to grounding issues from
computer cases that warp over time. If a case designer doesn't consider
airflow then you could have a negative flow causing hot air pockets
inside the computer. This lack of airflow can cause a multitude of
problems such as overheating, and degredation of system performance. Did
you know that without proper airflow, processors are smart enough to
lower their speeds so they don't overheat? It might sound great in
practice, but all that performance is gone without that proper airflow
and with such a strain on other components your system is more likely to
fail.
We choose brand names such as Antec and Cooler Master for our
cases. These cases retain all the functionality and use a higher grade
steel during the manufacturing process which makes them strong. You also
get amazing airflow and a great looking exterior. |
